2019 Lee Circle weekend launched with a cocktail reception at Cheatham House hosted by John Bacon, President of Stratford Hall and his wife, Margaret.  Guests enjoyed a marvelous dinner in the dining room with remarks from Elaine Deming, Chair of the Board of Directors, Jane and Nelson Schwab, Co-Chairs of the Lee Circle Weekend and John Bacon.

The next morning, Lee Circle members traveled to Rose Hill, a landmark of the Rappahannock River Valley with structures on the property dating back to 1666. Guests enjoyed learning about the history of the home and the restoration process from owners John and Billings Cay, walking through the gardens designed by Will Rieley, and watching the release of the Birmingham Roller pigeons from the dovecote.

Later that evening, guests gathered in the East Garden to hear remarks honoring all those whose contributions brought this new installation into being.  The Lee Circle Address was given by Nashville Landscape architect, Ben Page.  The memorable evening concluded with dinner and dancing in a tent in the West Yard.  Mary Jane and Charlie Brock were also recognized as the newest members of the Futuri Society, Stratford Hall’s planned giving recognition society.

The Lee Circle is Stratford Hall’s premier circle of private support. Lee Circle members enjoy a special and personal relationship with Stratford Hall as a benefit of their gift of $5,000 or more annually to support Stratford’s goals of preservation, education, and research.
